Although he’s probably best known for his work with Brooklyn bands Woods and The Babies, Kevin Morby is quickly carving out a vibrant career of his own. In 2014 the multi-instrumentalist shook things up and moved from his long-time home in New York to a quiet neighborhood in Los Angeles where he began work on his second solo release, Still Life. Morby took the stage at Pickathon this past summer and performed songs from that album for the crowd nestled among the trees at the Woods Stage, including this song “Motors Runnin’” which features Morby’s Dylan-esque drawl and jangly guitar hooks.
Morby’s latest album, Singing Saw, came out on April 15 on Dead Oceans, the eclectic Bloomington, Indiana-based record label that’s also home to Mitski, Destroyer, and The Tallest Man On Earth.
As for Pickathon, the annual festival returns on August 5-7 at Pendarvis Farm just outside of Portland, Oregon with a recently announced lineup that features headlining performances from Beach House, Wolf Parade, Jeff Tweedy, and Yo La Tengo.
