London-based Wolf People are breathing new life into an almost-forgotten tradition of English proggy blues rock, conjuring up the ghosts of sonic forefathers Deep Purple, Led Zepellin, and Jethro Tull with a heavy dose of mysticism and general ‘beardo wizard shit.’
On the final day of last summer’s Pickathon, Wolf People played a blistering set at the Woods Stage. This performance of “One By One From Dorney Reach,” played in an appropriately forested portion of the festival grounds, is one Druid away from British psych rock perfection.
Pickathon also announced the release of two new “Live at Pickathon” LPs coming August 9th. They’re both split releases: one with Woods / The Men; the other with Vetiver / Wolf People.
The annual Pickathon festival returns August 5-7 at Pendarvis Farm just outside Portland, Ore., with a lineup that features headlining performances from Beach House, Wolf Parade, Jeff Tweedy and Yo La Tengo.
