Emmy Wins Reinforce Commitment of OPB’s Teams and Members
The Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, NATAS, recently announced that Oregon Public Broadcasting, OPB, is the recipient of the 2014 Northwest Regional Emmy for Station Excellence. This award marks a first-time achievement for any public broadcasting organization in the region and a second-time win for an Oregon station.
“We are so fortunate to live in a region that has so many great stories to cover and so many great stories that people want to hear,” said Steve Bass, president and CEO of OPB. “And I have to thank the people—our 120,000 donors who contribute to make all of this possible.”
NATAS Northwest region covers stations and production companies across Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The 51st Annual Regional Emmy Awards recognize achievements in news segments, environmental programs, historical documentaries, arts features and other original productions created during 2013.
OPB was also recognized for Oregon Art Beat, Oregon Experience and Oregon Field Guide. Nominated for 21 Northwest Regional Emmys, OPB won awards in the following categories:

NATAS Northwest Chapter also inducted Steve Amen, executive producer and host of Oregon Field Guide, into the 2014 Silver Circle, which honors media professionals who have made significant contributions to television for more than 25 years.
