Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) staff took home Northwest Regional Emmy awards in two categories this past weekend at the 50th Annual Regional Emmy Awards ceremony in Seattle.

OPB Producer Jule Gilfillan and Videographer/Editor Michael Bendixen both won an Emmy for Informational/Instructional—Feature/Segment for their Oregon Field Guide story “Time-lapse Photography,”which takes viewers on a photo-safari from the top of Portland’s Fremont Bridge through Olympic National Park, to the Columbia Gorge with award-winning time-lapse photographer Ben Canales.

Additionally, Bendixen also received an Emmy in the Photographer: Program category as the lead photographer on “Treeverse” an outdoor adventure film directed by filmmaker John Waller about two men’s attempt to transect through a forest canopy in northwest Oregon over five days.

The Emmy wins come on the heels of other recent award wins for OPB staff.

Last month, OPB was honored with five first place awards along with eight second and third place awards in the 2012 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Excellence in Journalism Contest. Additionally, in April, the OPB News website was named a winner of a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
