Nine-Show Series at Mississippi Studios Connects Music Fans to Popular Northwest Artists

opbmusic, OPB’s musical arm streaming indie, alternative and pop music from Northwest artists, is launching a crowdfunding campaign for a new concert series featuring local bands that celebrates the vibrancy of Portland’s thriving music scene.

“opbmusic Stagepass” offers a unique concert experience for music fans. It consists of a package of nine separate shows played at Portland’s Mississippi Studios over the course of the year. The venue’s intimate setting offers the opportunity to see bands close up and for fans to become more immersed in the live music environment.

“With Stagepass, we want to expose more people to the area’s most popular and up-and-coming artists through these exciting live shows,” said David Christensen, program director, opbmusic. “We also have a unique opportunity to help build recognition for and expand interest in the Northwest music scene to audiences around the world.”

Each live concert will be accompanied by a film crew that will capture the energy of the Stagepass series. After each concert, a highly-produced video and playlists from the show will be distributed online on both YouTube and at the PBS Digital Studios site for fans outside of the region and around the world to enjoy.

From April 14 through May 9, opbmusic is hosting a crowdfunding campaign through the platform Indiegogo to meet a funding goal of $20,000 for the series. PBS Digital Studios will then match up to $20,000 of the total amount raised through a grant. One-hundred percent of funds raised during the campaign will be dedicated to helping cover the bands’ costs and film and production crew costs.

Music fans can contribute to the campaign and attend the shows by visiting the Indiegogo campaign page and purchasing the nine-concert series for a one-time price of $75. There are also several additional “perks” for purchase that will be added throughout the campaign such as t-shirts, an instrument signed by one of the bands, and both dinner and overnight hotel packages before a show of choice.

Portland band Modern Kin will kick off the Stagepass series on May 10. Following, Mimicking Birds will play the second show on July 12. Both shows will be held at Mississippi Studios.  opbmusic will announce new bands that are added to the lineup as the series continues over the year.
