KMHD will celebrate the end of the year with a daylong countdown of the KMHD top 100 best jazz recordings. Vocals to instrumentals, sultry to upbeat, Coltrane to Holiday – this mix of quintessential jazz will have it all.
“We want to celebrate some of the most beloved jazz compositions and provide a great holiday listening experience,” said Program Director Matt Fleeger, who will provide commentary and context throughout the day.
Regular programming will be preempted from 8am to 8pm on December 30 as KMHD hosts begin the countdown from bottom to top.
“This is a fun way for KMHD to showcase the highest of the high art in jazz,” said Fleeger.
Listeners are invited to share their favorite songs at kmhd.org for a chance to win a Portland Jazz Festival weekend — tickets to four headline shows and a two-night stay at the Avalon Hotel and Spa in Portland.
Community-supported radio station KMHD has been a staple of the Portland jazz scene for over 25 years, showcasing the best of jazz. Licensed to Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham and operated by Oregon Public Broadcasting, KMHD champions jazz performances and education to ensure that this uniquely American art form continues to thrive in our region.
