Oregon Public Broadcasting Offers Pool Coverage of Malheur Trial With Daily Updates

Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) led the coverage of the 41-day armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge earlier this year. Now, to follow on that nationally recognized reporting, OPB is providing pool coverage for the resulting federal trial. OPB is one of only two media organizations that have daily, guaranteed access to the courtroom and, as a result, will offer that coverage to all other media organizations upon request. Three times a day OPB reporters like Conrad Wilson and Amanda Peacher will provide audio recaps of what happened in court.

Media organizations that would like to receive the daily, unedited, audio files by Dropbox can email newseditors@opb.org to be added to the distribution list.

“We are honored to take on this role as the broadcast pool for the Bundy trial,” says Sarah Rothenfluch, OPB’s executive editor of news. “We look forward to providing regular updates and sharing the news of this important federal trial to all media outlets that request it.”

In addition to daily dispatches, OPB has launched a weekly podcast to dig deeper into the proceedings. With a new episode each Friday, This Land is Our Land is available for download in the Apple iTunes store, via the NPR One app, on the OPB website and wherever podcasts are available.
