Sculptor Greg Congleton

Greg Congleton grew up on a ranch in Eastern Oregon, got a degree in business and had his own business. But he never forgot how much he enjoyed art in high school and, in his 50's, he decided to take a sculpting class. A mere two years later, his work was selling in major galleries. Since his career change, Greg has enjoyed much success as a sculptor and was named artist of the month at the High Desert Museum/Praegitzer Gallery in Bend.

Jazz Ensemble Kung Pao Chickens

Three guitarists, a clarinet and a bass make up Oregon's best Django Reinhardt-style jazz ensemble, the Kung Pao Chickens. The band features the lightening fast fingers of guitarist Jon Neufeld, and makes you feel like you're sitting in the Hot Club of Paris wherever they play.

Clothing Boutique Seaplane

Holly Stalder and Kathryn Towers created their boutique/gallery, Seaplane, as a space for one-of-a-kind, handmade clothing. Now an epicenter for Portland's best young designers, Seaplane champions its clothes as wearable works of art. Our story features their annual fashion show, with models stutting down the catwalk in clothes that are bizarre, colorful, brazen and sometimes even tasteful.
