Milliner Dayna Pinkham
169
Dayna Pinkham has devoted herself to the art and craft of creating hats for over 20 years, combining her extensive training in the traditional style of European millinery with her inspired, artistic flair and commitment to quality. Pinkham began her millinery career in her home city of Seattle, where she apprenticed to the late John Eaton, venerable milliner and fashion designer. From Eaton, she learned the time-honored methods of design conception; steaming and shaping felt, straw and buckram over wood blocks; and finishing with fine hand stitching. Dayna Pinkham designs and constructs her exceptional hats at her downtown Portland boutique, Pinkham Millinery. Pinkham's hats are frequently featured at fashion shows, fundraising auctions and benefit events. She also gives lecture demonstrations on millinery techniques and history to various institutions including grammar schools, colleges and historical societies.
