- Poetry in Motion

- The Poetry Society of America launched Poetry in Motion in 1992. The first poems appeared in the New York city subway. Now ten million commuters a day in cities all across the country can read poetry while riding mass transit. TriMet participates in this program as a wonderful way to enrich the riding experience of customers. About 9 years ago Trimet was approached by Poetry Society of America to participate. Trimet was honored to be the first west coast city invited. Five Oregon poets' poems were chosen as part of the local Poetry in Motion project. Instead of advertising, little gems of words are placed just above eye level. Of all the Literary Arts programs, Poetry in Motion is by far the most visible.

- Lifecasting Artist Peny Wallace

- If realism is what you are after, we suggest Peny Wallace whose three dimensional portraits of the human form are so faithful, so life-like that they simply stop viewers in their tracks. Peny describes life casting as a moment stopped in time, taking a body and stopping it to make a three dimensional portrait. This process is not easy and requires dedication as well as an interest in the human body. Peny predominently creates her life castings in her Mosier studio during the summer months, during the rest of the year she is a teacher at the Dalles High School.
