American Marquetry Society

Dating back to the time of Egyptian pharaohs, marquetry is an ancient art. Woodworkers Gerry Laddusaw, Gary Meyers, and Larry Schmidt demonstrate this ancient craft of creating designs by cutting out and overlaying different kinds of wood veneers. The three men belong to the Columbia River chapter of the American Marquetry Society and their goal is to keep the craft alive by teaching it to others.

The Portland Guitar Duo formed in 1999. Its members, James Manuele and Foti Lycouridis, share a mutual enthusiasm for the guitar duet medium. They have performed as featured guests of the Portland Guitar Society and as soloists with the Oregon Chamber Players.

Bookmaker Timothy Ely

Timothy Ely began to make books in tandem with paintings and prints in the mid-70’s. He studied book binding with some of the world’s most well-known practitioners, honing his ideas for his visual stories and the book format. His love for the materials themselves combines with the use of ciphers and diagrams to create books that are a different kind of mystery.
