Portland Art Center

The Portland Art Center is part of a an arts neighborhood based around NW 5th and Couch in Old Town Portland. The Portland Art Center is a nonprofit exhibition space and resource center for the contemporary arts. Its mission is to cultivate informative and innovative interactions between the art world and the public, providing unique opportunities to contemporary artists whose work is outside the commercial gallery system.

Sword Sheath Artist April Kline

April Kline makes and paints tai chi sword sheaths. These unique objects are made predominantly from artist's canvas, with acrylic paint and sometimes decals and clear coats for protection. Each one tells a story, usually related to her practice of tai chi, but many are whimsical products of her imagination.
