- Painter Margret Short

- Dutch paintings have been a source of inspiration for Margret Short; specifically, Rembrandt and Willem Kalf. She feels that these painting holds the most mysterious and dramatic effects of light and shadow. Technique and materials in painting are as important as the result. Margret prefers using materials set down by the masters and proved by the test of time. Fine lead-primed linens, pure pigments, and resin/oil medium allows the paint to take on a certain glowing quality. Margret's style, though deeply rooted in the traditions of the Renaissance, has a fresh and gestural quality that transcends time and space.
