Portland Opera Studio Artists
Members of the Portland Opera Studio Artists program are young opera singers who are starting their careers. Their internships with the Portland Opera provide a bridge from the conservatory to the professional world. In Portland for a season, the vocalists receive instruction and participate in community outreach.

Painter Arvie Smith
Arvie Smith's paintings are not only bold and colorful, but also challenging. Arvie says he doesn't paint, but rather tells stories. As an African American whose great-grandmother grew up as a slave, Arvie's work challenges us with the struggle and pain of the African American experience. Arvie's main gig is as an instructor at PNCA. Additionally, he gives back to the community by sharing his talents of painting and teaching with at risk youth.
