Numerous rock historians have called Richard Meltzer the first critic to make a serious effort at understanding rock'n'roll. Richard’s first book, "The Aesthetics of Rock," evolved out of his studies in philosophy at the State University of New York and Yale University. He moved to Portland in the 1990s, and now concentrates on poetry and biography.
