While arts funding is shrinking most places, the town of Sisters has enacted a new approach to music education. The "Americana Project" teaches kids about America's rich folk heritage and encourages them to write their own songs. It's working. ART BEAT found 5th graders learning their first guitar chords and high school students mustering up the courage to sing at the Sisters Folk Festival.
