Monica Drake, a teacher at Pacific NW College of Art, is the author of Clown Girl. In addition, she is a contributor of reviews and articles to The Oregonian, The Stranger, and the Portland Mercury and her fiction has appeared in the Beloit Fiction Review, Threepenny Review, The Insomniac Reader, and others. Monica was a student of Tom Spanbauer and an early member of his Portland writers' group, Dangerous Writing, along with fellow Portland writer Chuck Pahlaniuk. Her debut novel, Clown Girl has been met with much success. It is published by Hawthorne Books and is already in its second printing.(photo by Aaron Busch)
