ASIAN FLYING CARP
You won't need a rod and reel for these fish, but Asian Flying Carp are an ongoing threat, not a good day's catch. Some have been known to weigh 60-80 pounds and it's not uncommon for a single carp to consume nearly 50% of it's body weight in plankton every day. If these invasive fish make it to Oregon they could have major impacts on Oregon's iconic salmon.
- Inspect & clean. Be sure to remove any plants, dirt, and water from your gear and clothing.
- Dispose of bait properly. Empty your bait bucket on land before leaving the waterbody and never release live bait into the water or release aquatic animals from one waterbody into another.
- Never move live fish from one body of water to another. With the exception of floods, it is often human pathways that help invasive species move to aquatic ecosystems – like your favorite fishing hole.
