Chetco River kayak
In what has to be one of Field Guide's toughest treks yet, Alan Wilson leads us by horse, foot, and kayak to see the pristine upper headwaters of the Chetco River in the heart of the Kalmiopsis wilderness. We reach the Chetco after an eight mile hike, then we paddle twenty miles down the rugged stream to our takeout.

William Finley
We pay tribute to William Finley, a man who made incredible contributions to the future of Oregon's wildlife and natural resources. In the early 1900's Finley and his colleague Herman Bohlman went on photographic expeditions throughout Oregon. Finley was a dramatic speaker and he used his slides and movies to convince President Theodore Roosevelt to set aside lands (such as Klamath Basin and Three Arch Rocks) as national wildlife refuges.
