- A disturbing trend is taking place in Oregon. Meth labs are moving from urban areas to out-of-the-way places and generating huge quantities of contaminants that threaten the environment. FIELD GUIDE follows a group of scientists cleaning up a creek in the foothills of the Elk Horn range near Baker where toxic chemicals used to manufacture meth were dumped. Criminals are also stealing natural resources, such as old-growth trees, and public property, such as bridge rails, to finance these labs.
