Wind Power
Renewable energy specialist Don Bain takes us to 7 mile hill outside of the Dalles, and explains the potential of this area for wind turbines. Choice wind locations are plentiful in Oregon, but convincing the public to tolerate the visual impact of turbine fields is another issue. The potential problems of wind power are solvable, Bain says, and the benefits far out way the negatives.

Mastodon Petroglyphs
Revisit the ice age with Oregon Field Guide to uncover prehistoric secrets about the coexistence of humans and mastodons. We search for petroglyphs in Southeastern Oregon, with supposed elephant-like figures carved into them. The trek is long, through miles of lonesome country, and with darkness quickly approaching we wonder if we'll get to see this mastodon petroglyphs at all.
