Field Journal: Climbing the Plateau

Jim Newman Jim Newman, Producer

Tuesday, March 27, 2007 — Photographing petroglyphs and pictographs for a story on rock art required photographer Michael Bendixen to do some serious climbing with camera and tripod on the slopes of Horsethief Butte near The Dalles.

But perching on narrow ledges wasn't the only hazard on the crumbling cliff face.

The Field Guide crew spends many weeks each year traveling around Oregon shooting new stories for the show. They have lots of adventures and experiences that never make it to air. Read about them here and learn a little more about the folks behind the cameras.
