Bear Research

OPB | Feb. 1, 1995 7:30 p.m.

Biologists struggle through rugged, snowy terrain in search of a female black bear. Even though she’s wearing a radio collar, she’s hard to find. This mother bear, with two cubs, is part of a five-year study of the health of the bear population in the Cascades. The scientists literally crawl into her den to check up on her.
