Nutria

Commonly seen in waterways around Oregon, Nutria are a non-native species that originally came from South America. They were introduced to the state in the 1950's to be bred and raised for their fur. Some breeders released their stock into the wild, creating problems for farmers and native habitat that continue to this day.
