50,000 years ago Mt. Hood was entirely buried under glacial ice. Today glaciers throughout the United States are in rapid decline, taking with them essential water resources. Fountain and Percy set out on foot to study the current state of Elliot glacier on Mt. Hood in order to provide valuable information for developing computer technology that will be able to accurately measure the size and movement of glacier ice.
