Mineral build up with the consistency of corroded concrete creates a natural bowl on the Alvord desert floor holding a very special and interesting lake in place. With temperatures upwards of 100 degrees and water concentrated with arsenic and lead, Borax Lake is a chemical soup uninhabitable by most types of aquatic life. Meet a tiny fish, the Borax Lake Chub, that has managed to survive in these incredibly harsh conditions.
