A 17-year study to determine why the death rate of Rocky Mountain Elk calves is so high in north Central Oregon, nears completion. The data show predators claim many of the elk babies. Otherwise, the young are healthy. We follow Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife biologists as they track the animals during final stages of the study, and nail down the facts which will help forest managers solve the problem of elk baby mortality.
