4/19/2006 - Lawmakers Hoping One Day Is All It Will Take
April 19, 2006
One day.
That's how long state lawmakers in Salem are hoping it will take them to pass five bills in a special session that begins Thursday.
A special committee took testimony on the session Wednesday, and as Colin Fogarty reports, the agenda is limited.

Rob Manning's story, which your husband heard, is now online at http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/opb/news.newsmain?action=article&ARTICLE_ID=904075
A source in that story does make mention of an Oregon program to forgive loans for nurses and teachers, but that was not the focus of Rob's story and we have no more information about such a program.

Yesterday my husband was listening to a program about social workers and the debt they assume through schooling. The prgram mentioned a program for Oregon teachers/policeofficers which forgives student loans. I'm an Oregon Teacher with student loans. Is there a web site or phone number where I could get more info.
