Dick Erath Makes Wine
In 1968 a young Californian named Dick Erath had a dream. He and his family settled in the cool and wet northern Willamette Valley to make wine—but not just any variety. He chose to focus on Pinot noir, the delicate red grape of Burgundy, France. As an early pioneer in Oregon’s premium wine industry, Dick made award-winning wine for nearly 40 years before selling his winery to the Washington State based Ste. Michelle in 2006.
But once a winemaker – always a winemaker. Come along with the Oregon Experience team for a visit with Dick Erath as he brews up a batch of homemade Pinot noir in his garage near Dundee, Oregon.
