Methodist Church

Keeping the Faith

Religion is a cornerstone of community structure. In 1873, even before Union was an incorporated city, Methodist townsfolk built a wooden church on Main Street (the "new" church shown here was built in 1905). Over the years, the town welcomed many faiths, including Presbyterian, Episcopal, Seventh-day Adventist, Christian, Mormon, and Catholic. The church buildings continue to provide important public meeting spaces.
