Viet D. Dinh, the main author of the USA PATRIOT Act, discusses the challenges of preserving civil liberties in the fight against terrorism.
Panel also includes: Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), who voted against both the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act. Charles Hinkle, a Portland attorney who served as president of the ACLU of Oregon and on the national ACLU board. Karin Immergut, the U.S. Attorney for Oregon. Timothy Keefer, the Chief Counsel for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. And Kristen Winemiller, a Portland attorney who filed one of the first legal challenges to the FISA provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act.
