March 25, 2005 — Oregon's Congressional Delegation
Following ten years of weak political power in Washington, DC, Oregon's congressional clout is slowly gaining strength again.
Senators Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden now occupy seats on the powerful Senate Finance Committee. Representatives Peter DeFazio and Earl Blumenauer are on the Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee. Rep. Greg Walden is chair of the forestry subcommittee of House Resources and a close ally of the Bush Administration.
This week, we explore what this increasing clout means for Oregon.
Host: Christy George
Guests: Hasso Hering, editor of the Albany Democrat-Herald; Colin Fogarty, political reporter for OPB radio; and David Sarasohn, associate editor of The Oregonian.
