The lottery has expanded from scratch tickets to video poker and later this year, will include electronic slot machines. However, the amount retailers get from offering these gambling games varies-- and is subject to much contention.

This week we explore the economics behind the lottery, the profits lottery retailers retain, and take a look at the state's reliance on gambling revenue.

Host: Mitchell Hartman, editor of Oregon Business Magazine

Guest: Bob Whelan, economist for ECO Northwest; Dale Penn, director of the Oregon Lottery; Tom Grey, spokesman for National Coalition Against Legalized Gambling.
