May 13, 2005 — Media Ethics
A look at who controls the media, the message of the media, and how new technology influences journalism.
We explore access to the internet and why it's important to the free flow of ideas and society. We also examine the ethics of the Spokane newspaper that recently hired a forensics expert to chat online with the mayor. The mayor has now taken a leave of absence following news reports that he frequented gay chat rooms and offered city jobs to men he met online.
Host: Christy George
Reporter: Elizabeth Wynne Johnton, Northwest News Network
Guest: Mark Zusman, editor of Willamette Week; David Olson, director of Office of Cable Communications, city of Portland.
