Portland filmmaker Mike Shiley traveled to Iraq in 2003 to make a movie about the lives of Iraqi people and the U.S. soldiers stationed there. The result is the movie 'Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories'. The movie is his personal story about the visit, including his tour of a hospital filled with landmine victims, a walk through a porno market in Baghdad, and a ride with U.S. soldiers on a night patrol in a dangerous town.

Though some audiences in Portland are applauding the film, many soldiers in the military are not as receptive to it's message.

This week, you'll hear from Shiley about some of the challenges making the film, and also hear some reaction from a local soldier who returned from Iraq in April.

The movie is currently playing at the Mission Theatre in Portland.

Host: Allison Frost

Guest: Mike Shiley, filmmaker; Maj. Arnold Strong, Oregon National Guard and former U.S. Army Ranger.
