July 1, 2005 — On Principle: American Democracy
Over the last month, OPB radio ran a series on core principles of American democracy, called 'On Principle'. The project involved lengthy interviews with people throughout Oregon and focused on five democratic principles:
1. Individual Freedoms 2. Equality 3. Economic Opportunity 4. Justice 5. Civic Engagement
The series was produced by the Oregon Council for the Humanities and independent producer David Welch. This week, we're talking about the project and what Oregonians think about American democracy.
Host: Allison Frost
Guest: Christopher Zinn, executive director of the Oregon Council for the Humanities; and David Welch, independent producer whose work has aired on Marketplace, NPR, Savvy Traveler, Sound Money, and Weekend America.
