Back in 1965, The Oregonian revived Northwest Magazine, a Sunday supplement in the newspaper. Under the direction of Joe Bianco as editor for 17 years, Northwest Magazine published essays by local writers on topics as varied as hippies, skiing, and royal weddings.

Many of these writers went on to become some of the best known writers from Oregon, including Barry Lopez, Ivan Doig, and Rick Rubin.

A new book called, 'Oregon Fever: An Anthology of Northwest Writing 1965 to 1982' features a collection of essays by these writers first published in Northwest Magazine. The book is edited by Charles Deemer, who was also a frequent contributor to Northwest.

Host: Morgan Holm

Guest: Joe Bianco, former editor of Northwest Magazine; Charles Deemer, editor of 'Oregon Fever' and local writer.
