Packing the car up for a summer road trip isn't as cheap as it used to be. Sure, there's the price of gas at the pump, but a variety of other factors also play a role in the actual cost of driving an automobile.

This week, we explore some of these costs -- from pollution to securing oil fields to production of gasoline. We discuss a proposal to reduce automobile emissions in Oregon, and take a look at what is being done to promote new automobile technologies, including biofuel.

Host: Mitchell Hartman, editor of Oregon Business Magazine

Guest: Paul Cosgrove, lobbyist for Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers in Oregon; Tomas Endicott, managing partner of Sequential Biofuels; and Clark Williams-Derry, research director for Northwest Environment Watch.
