As Oregon prepares for the possible arrival of hundreds of victims of Hurricane Katrina this weekend, preparations are underway to house and feed these people.

Private organizations are playing a key role in helping these victims -- collecting supplies, organizing volunteers, and providing support.

Today, we explore the relief efforts underway in Oregon and how these efforts may help local residents during a future disaster.

Host: Morgan Holm, OPB News

Guest: Gareth Nevitt, chief operating officer of the American Red Cross, Oregon Trail Chapter; and Dr. T. Allen Bethel, senior pastor and president of Albina Ministerial Alliance in north Portland.
