Two hundred years ago, Lewis & Clark's Corp of Discovery was in Montana, heading home after two years of exploring, traveling, and meeting Indians across the west.

Since then, their journey has taken on epic proportions, with volumes of books, movies, and even radio programs produced about the trip.

This week, we explore how various groups are approaching the bicentennial, what messages they hope to get across, and how the Corp of Discovery ultimately influenced life in the western United States.

Note: this interview originally ran in November 2005 on Oregon Territory.

Host: Christy George

Guest: David Sarasohn, author of "Waiting for Lewis & Clark: The Bicentennial and the Changing West", associate editor/columnist for The Oregonian, and recipient of the 2002 Pulliam Fellowship for Editorial Writers.
