A conversation with the superintendent of an award winning school district in eastern Oregon. The Nyssa School District was once a low performing/unsatisfactory district — but after implementing variety of innovative programs, last year the district and it's schools won several statewide awards, including a teacher of the year award.

And we'll also look at one subject not commonly taught in schools-civics. One local state representative bemoans this loss of civics education and says it means less citizen participation in government on all levels.

Host: Christy George

Guests: Don Grotting, superintendent of Nyssa School District; and Rep. Linda Flores (R-Clackamas)
