Woolly Mammoth iron sculpture – 15-ft. high, 18-ft. long, 3 tons in weight, with cast bronze tusks and isinglass eyes. Designed by accomplished iron artist Dixie Jewett, the mammoth is made from thousands of pieces of iron scrappings that have been heated, twisted and turned for welding this ancient beast together. The Woolly Mammoth stands at the edge of Main Street just a few blocks from the downtown in this county seat of 400 persons.
