Oregon Celebrates Mark O. Hatfield Day
State lawmakers in Salem took a break from partisan rancor today to honor former U.S. Senator Mark Hatfield.
The 82-year-old World War Two veteran was a state legislator, Secretary of State, and Governor before winning five terms in the U.S. Senate.
Hatfield's health took a turn nine months ago when he fell at the home of one of his four children. But he appeared in good health Wednesday.
