In one very short meeting, a search committee ushered in the next era in Oregon’s arts and cultural landscape. Tuesday afternoon, Brian Rogers was hired as executive director of the Oregon Arts Commission and the Oregon Cultural Trust.
Rogers has spent much of his career as an administrator at Pennsylvania’s Council on the Arts. He’s also a painter, and an amateur hockey player (left wing) and Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
We spoke with Rogers, and with the chairs for both agencies’ advisory boards, Julie Vigeland and Bob Speltz.
Want to hear what Rogers told an audience last Monday about his qualifications, and how he views Oregon’s arts and cultural challenges? Listen to this extended interview.
