After years of standing in rock clubs, Portia Sabin is getting used to sitting in comedy clubs.

Joseph B. Schaefer

The CEO of Kill Rock Stars sat down with us this week to discuss the label's one-year experiment with signing stand-up artists. She's netted an impressive portfolio, with names like Ian Karmel, Cameron Esposito, and Hari Kondabolu now recording their albums with KRS. But, like music, comedy is a complex business.

Sabin talked about podcasts, the digital lives of comedians, and why people might pay for comedy downloads, even if they resist paying for music MP3s.
