Portland attorney James Buchal ran a successful write-in campaign during the May primary to become the Republican nominee for Attorney General. Now, he’s hoping to clinch the deal on November 6.
A graduate of Harvard and Yale, Buchal has been practicing in Oregon since 1991. He focuses on anti-trust and environmental law, as well as civil litigation. He’s been vocal about differentiating himself from his opponent on a number of issues, from medical marijuana to government accountability.
Buchal is facing an uphill battle as a last-minute write-in candidate going up against an incumbent appointed to the job shortly after the primary. Current ORSTAR record show Buchal has raised a total of $32,283. His opponent’s fundraising has surpassed the million dollar mark.

Editor’s Note: James Buchal’s Democratic opponent, Ellen Rosenblum, declined our request to appear with him. We spoke to her on the show Monday.
