This week, we’re reaching out to Oregon’s congressional delegation to ask them how they’ll vote on the question of whether to authorize force against Syria in response to the chemical weapons attack that killed 1,400 civilians. President Barack Obama said this weekend that intelligence shows that the Bashar al-Assad government was responsible for the attack. Obama says he’s convinced the U.S. should launch a limited strike against the regime.
But the president surprised many with the announcement that he would seek the approval of the American people’s representatives in Congress. We talk with Peter DeFazio, Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici about whether they support Obama’s decision and how they are planning to vote on the question.
Do you support a U.S. military response to the chemical weapons attack in Syria?
