Moammar Gadhafi ruled Libya for 42 years before being ousted in an uprising earlier this year. He was killed this morning when anti-Gaddafi forces wrested control of his hometown. He was 69.
New unconfirmed reports from the Tripoli military council also suggest that one of Gaddafi’s sons and his chief of intelligence have also been killed.
Much of Libya has now erupted in celebration.
We’ll get reaction to all this news as it breaks this morning.
