Recently, the news for hyperlocal journalism hasn’t been good. After years of unsuccessful attempts to turn a profit, AOL sold its hyperlocal enterprise, Patch, to a company that promptly laid off hundreds of staffers. But Josh Fenton is undeterred. His journalism venture, GoLocal24, launches on Wednesday, the third location in the GoLocal family (GoLocalProv started in 2010 in Rhode Island, and GoLocalWorcester, in Massachusetts, followed in 2012).
GoLocalPDX features a combination of investigative pieces and human interest stories.
