President Barack Obama is traveling to the U.N. General Assembly today to address the international body about Syria, mid-east peace and a nuclear Iran. That last subject is one that Kenneth Pollack is coming to Oregon this week to talk about. Pollack is at the World Affairs Council of Oregon Wednesday night to discuss the prospect of Iran developing nuclear weapons and what to do to prevent that.
His new book, Unthinkable: Iran, The Bomb and American Strategy, argues against preventative war as a policy for containing Iran’s nuclear capability. The thesis of Unthinkable upset some expectations, since the former CIA analyst and Brookings Institution scholar had argued for military action in Iraq a decade ago.
